Vacation Part 1

Finally the documentation of the vacation that was planned for almost three years!  It was really amazing to go see a totally different place than anything I am used to.  I usually never travel and I had never been outside the country until this trip except just over the Canadian boarder which REALLY does not count in my book.  After LONG hours of flights and lay overs we arrive at the smallest airport ever.  We are talking a large hut open to the outside.  A small woman comes and says “Ninamu?” Yup that is the name of the place we are going to.  So we hop in the back of this truck

And take a ride to this beautiful dock

We wasted no time at all. We ate lunch saw our bungalow and got on the boat to visit Bird Island

This island is covered in birds and crabs.  There are crab holes everywhere you look. I was amazed how sturdy they were too.  They didn’t collapse as you walked over them

This bird is a nest-less bird.  It lays it’s eggs directly on a tree branch while it is still a little soft and then the egg hardens onto the branch

Then we visited the island they get all their produce from.  They are a religious group from Thiland who call their Island “Little Eden” and they grow and make everything themselves.  We saw them making coconut oil and got to sample figs and cherry’s (much different than our cherries, very tart) We ate papaya every morning which I really liked. I’d never had papaya before then.
