Entertainment Console Done – For a While Now

I realized that I haven’t blogged about finishing our console!  We decided to not do the side hutches you will see on ana-white.com because it all just took too long and we were burned out when this part was finished.

I’m sad that I could not get a good picture.  With the placement of the console in our house, it will be impossible to get a good picture because the lighting is all wrong.

The hutch was Nathan’s first project so I left him to it.  The bottom was a combined effort.  He built the box the week Summer was born and I did the drawers and cupboards. This was a HUGE project to do when you have little kids.  I do not recommend if it is something you want to get finished fairly soon.

Our reason for starting the project was so the TV would be up high enough that the kids could not reach it.  Now – they can still reach it.  Not because our original measurements were off, they just grew in the time it took to finish it.  Luckily hand prints on the TV are not such a huge deal now anyway since they are a little older and know not to do it. At least it will be protected for Summer’s little hands until she is old enough to not do it too.

I love the console though.  Since it has all the closed up storage I was able to get rid of the bookshelf we had next to it that was a huge eye sore. If we feel the need next summer, maybe we will do the side hutches.

This is really cool! It looks like you bought it at an expensive furniture store! Well done! It must be fun to work together in a project like this.
It is also interesting to see how people usually gravitate to certain colors. I’ve been noticing that for a long time now. When I saw this picture it reminded of the color scheme in the playroom/nursery/kid’s room. I am the same way. Always end up picking a similar color scheme for clothes and decor.
Anyway, congratulations! This is a really cool piece!
