Proud to be a Latter-Day Saint woman

A few years back I went on a date with a very intellectual guy who proceeded to tell my over almost the whole course of the date why he didn’t go to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints anymore. During this really long conversation I asked him what he thought about women in the church. He said to me that “women in the church are oppressed, they just don’t realize it.” To this day I wish I had said to him, “Obviously, you have never been a woman in the church.”LDS women are not oppressed. There is no place else where I have felt more love, belonging, respect and self worth than being part of this church.

Women struggle with self image so much but because I am a part of this church I know that I am a Daughter of God and I am of infinite worth. Because of this church I understand how important my family is, and how my role as a wife and mother is key. There are so many meeting especially for women in this church that are made to support, strengthen, and help one another. We have the largest womens organization in the world called the Relief Society. I just went to a big program called “Time Out for Women” and it was amazing!

If you want to know how women are really treated in the church, go to:

Baby baby

Ahnna is cutting four bottom teeth all at once and for the most part stays pretty happy.  She really cries hard when I have to leave her for more than 1/2 hour and she has some hard evenings sometimes but I am really surprised how well she is taking everything.

If anyone has good advice on getting a baby to sleep through the night I would love to hear it.  The more little articles I read online the more I see that letting them “cry it out” may not be the best solution (plus I just don’t want to have to resort to that).  I also think that it is her addiction to her pacifier that really makes her wake up.  On nights when it doesn’t fall out she does not get up.  Most nights now she will get up twice and it is starting to take its toll on me.  Today I felt like breaking things… don’t worry no one got hurt.

I took some Easter pictures of her the other day in the little dress her Grandma Spinelli got for her. So cute!!

Ahnna’s Blessing

Ahnna has many Aunts that are really good at scrap booking. Good thing too because it is something I have not been able to start doing yet. Anyway, her Aunt Sommer took notes when she had her baby blessing and made this beautiful page shown below. It is now framed hanging in Ahnna’s room

Downsizing

Here is something that made my day. I can’t ever remember being below a size 5/6 pant size. Maybe somewhere there in middle school I must have been smaller than that but I really can’t remember. I have stayed at about a 7/8 for the last 4 years and only when I was really working out I could get away with a 5/6. Well for some odd reason after having Ahnna I have dropped down to a 3/4 pants size!  Even in a variety of brands! I heard a while back that manufacturers were going to change the sizes for more realistic women, so that makes sense but going down two sizes is a big difference. I even tried on a 1/2 just for fun and I could get them all the way on including zipped and buttoned without too much effort. So I credit breastfeeding and being a homemaker (as opposed to sitting at a computer job for as much as 12 hours a day) for the weight loss because other than Tae Kwon Do once a week I really haven’t been very gun ho on working out, which it too bad because if I toned up my abs to pre-pregnant look, I think that 1/2 size would be doable :)
