A lazy afternoon……..

Posted in Nathan's Posts at 12:45 am by spinellifamily

It’s Sunday afternoon and Nathan and Ahnna are at the computer typing this post. I believe Wendy to be upset with me for taking a nap earlier, so Ahnna and I are kicking it old school until I have to go home teaching. Ahnna isn’t allowed to sleep any longer after 3 so that can make for some interesting afternoons. Sometimes she’ll play really well by herself if Wendy puts her down, but any time I ever try she just kind of whines until I pick her up. Oh well. I look forward to when she can tell me what the problem is. Until then I suppose that we will have some lazy afternoons with a screamer on board.

This is Wendy, just had to add that I was only upset because I thought he was going to get to sleep while I had no choice but to stay up with the baby again, but he let me rest for a little bit after that so I guess it was ok.

Kicked out

Nathan had an “Evening of Excellence” that he had to go to tonight to thank the people that granted him his scholarship this year.   He didn’t know if family was invited or not so Ahnna and I went with him and  I thought I would just drop him off if the meeting was only for him.  Turns out it was this big formal evening dinner thing with assigned seating.  So since Nathan signed up he had a seat and I didn’t so I was happy to drop him off but a lady told me not to leave and they were going to try and work something out.  Eventually another lady came out started rambling on how if would be best if I didn’t stay.  I said its fine but she just kept talking, I think its because she didn’t want to be rude so she just kept trying to explain herself, but then she said something that ruffled my feathers.  She said “Plus we just really don’t want the baby here.”  She needs to learn when to stop talking.  I understand that it was a big formal night and babies might not be appropriate but I guess I am just too used to church meetings/activities where you always bring your baby with you.  Plus its not like she would be running a muck and she is pretty quiet.  I felt like saying to her “Well I didn’t want to come to your stupid dinner anyway, if you don’t want my baby here than I don’t want to be here either.” I refrained from the remark, but I left quickly.

Our ward had a chili cook off tonight too so I went to that.  When I got there there were lots of kids and I felt like I was at home, where my type are welcome. :p

So Nathan later reported that the first 2.5 hours was socializingand people drinking wine. Then the meal finally started and the people with the scholarships were never mentioned.  So no big loss there.

Spring Snow

Posted in Wendy's Posts tagged , at 2:24 pm by spinellifamily

I have gotten use to having it snow a few times after it is officially spring here. It is not unusual for it to snow in the morning, and then warm up to needing maybe a light jacket after that. Well yesterday it snowed in the morning, warmed up like usual, and then at night it started snowing so hard and the wind was going so strong that the winter storm warning sirens went on at 4am. I haven’t heard sirens any where since I left Cheyenne Wyoming. There they had tornado sirens which came on every summer. I had to get online to find out what the sirens here were for because all I could think was tornado and I knew that was wrong. So now it looks like it is going to snow for a few days. I never cease to be amazed at the strange weather Pullman has in the spring.

Some of the Best Advice Ever

Ahnna has this habit of pooing so much at a time that there is no way any diaper could hold it all, so as a result she had a lot of stained clothes. Regular spray ‘n wash stuff does not take it out. I was telling my mom how she pooed a lot on a onesie I really like and she told me that a cup of dishwasher soap and a cup of regular bleach, soaked in hot water for 24 hours will take anything out. You don’t even have to worry about it being colored, for some reason with the dishwasher soap the bleach won’t take out the color. So I gathered up all the stained clothes, including a second hand dress that had formula stains on it (didn’t see it when I got it) and soaked them all and it worked! Didn’t matter if I had washed and dried them before or anything. She told me that Tiffany and I were really well dressed as children because she would buy everything from second hand stores and garage sales that were good clothes but had formula stains on them. She would take them out using this method and it was like they were new clothes.

So I was pretty excited when I saw the results for myself today. At first I thought maybe I was excited just because I’m a homemaker but ya know everyone has stained something they like to wear, and now you know how to get it out. :)

  1. Ahnna can now roll across the floor.
  2. She is an expert at sucking her thumb, her big toe, and her bottom lip.
  3. Drools with little effort
  4. And she ate her first meal of rice cereal and finished it all!

Leaving Pullman

Posted in Wendy's Posts tagged , , at 3:19 pm by spinellifamily

So we only have a little over a month left living in Pullman. When this semester is done we will be going up to Spokane for Nathan’s last two years of school. I have lived in this area for the last three years (Nathan’s been here four) so its going to feel weird going some place else. For the most part I welcome the change because I am looking forward to living in a place that has more than a Wal-Mart and a Macy’s. It was a big deal when we got an Old Navy too, in fact all of this is over in Moscow (about 8 miles east) , Pullman has much less.

The one thing I am going to miss is our ward. We have a huge married student ward so everyone is our age and is either just married or has very young kids. Couples our age in Spokane will be few and far between.

Nathan’s family is in Spokane so it will be nice living close to them for the next few years. :)

Heroes

Posted in Wendy's Posts tagged , at 5:19 am by spinellifamily

Lately Nathan and I have been watching different TV series. The latest one was Heroes and we just finished the last episodes today. At first I almost stopped watching it because I am really sensitive to blood and guts and the first episodes are filled with blood and guts but then it got better so I kept watching. Hiro Nakamura’s story is the best of all of them in my opinion. I love his character. He seemed like the least likely hero but he ended up doing the most good. If they just stuck to his story, the cheerleaders, and the Petrelli’s story, I would be content. (and I guess I also like following Sylers story, however I would like to see a new antagonist) I’m not too into the other ones but I guess the all come together in the end anyway. I hate waiting for the next season. :(

St. Patricks Day

We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day yesterday at a friends house with three other couples. We ate corned beef, cabbage, and drank green sprite. It was great fun. Especially with all the little girls in green. :) We spiked Ahnna’s hair because it sticks up all the time anyway so “if you can’t beat ‘em join ‘em.”
